The competition for Olympic selection between the Bath-based women's British Modern Pentathlon team has been resolved. Mhairi Spence won the world title in Rome to book her place at London 2012. Her team-mate Samantha Murray took bronze to earn the second Olympic team spot.
But Beijing silver medallist Heather Fell, and Freyja Prentice who had been in the running, missed out.
The race to qualify for the Olympics in the British modern pentathlon has begun. The team, who train at Bath University, are about to fly to the USA for the first World Cup competition of the year. Their performance in the coming months will determine which of them get to go to London
