Dozens of events are taking place around Cornwall to mark St Piran's Day. St Piran is said to have brought Christianity to the county when he landed at Perranporth from Ireland. It's a chance to celebrate Cornwall's culture and heritage.

Events are taking place to celebrate St Piran, the patron saint of Cornwall and a campaign has begun to get people speaking at least one word of Cornish. The language campaigners want us to use - meurras, pronounced M'Raz - instead of thank you - and hope "Meurras Day" will become an annual event
