Teenager arrested after girl is shot with an airgun

A teenage girl suffered serious injuries today after being shot with an airgun. The 15-year-old was shot in back and suffered a punctured lung in the incident in Matson in Gloucester. It happened shortly before 4pm.

The girl was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where her injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

I'd like to reassure the community in Matson that we will thoroughly investigate this incident and take whatever action is necessary.

We have deployed a number of officers into the area and our inquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances which led to the victim sustaining her injuries. Devizes shooting: man remanded in custody

62 year old Michael Chudley from Rowde but of no fixed addresss has been remanded to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 24 September.

He has been charged with the attempted murder of Devizes solicitor James Ward.

The 58 year old father of three from Westbury was shot in the head as he worked at the firm of Morris, Goddard and Ward Solicitors.

Wiltshire Police have charged a man with attempted murder after a man was shot in the head in Devizes.

James Ward, who's 58 remains in hospital with life threatening injuries following the shooting at a solicitor's office in the Wiltshire town on Monday.

62 year old Michael Chudley has also been charged with threats to kill, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and carrying a firearm with criminal intent.

He remains in police custody and will appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court this morning (Wednesday 4th July 2012).


Shot solicitor remains in critical condition

A man remains in hospital with life threatening injuries after being shot in the head in a solicitors office in Wiltshire.

Police were called to Morris, Goddard and Ward on St John's Street in Devizes yesterday afternoon.

The victim, named locally as 58-year-old solicitor James Ward, from Westbury, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. His family are at his side.

A 62-year old man is in custody in Melksham, and a weapon has been recovered.

Road closures around the building have now been lifted.

Ambulance reached Shooting victim within six minutes of 999 call

We received a 999 call at 2.58pm reporting a man had been injured in an incident involving a firearm in office premises in St John's Street, Devizes.

A paramedic in a rapid-response vehicle was on scene at 3.04pm, backed up by other resources, including ambulance crew, doctor, air ambulance and duty officers to liaise with other emergency services.

He was treated and stabilised on scene before being conveyed to Frenchay Hospital by the Great Western Air Ambulance, with a critical care paramedic and critical care doctor on board."
