It's estimated there are between twenty and fifty thousand people squatting in Britain, and around one thousand of them are thought to be squatting in properties in Bristol.
Tonight, the tv and radio presenter Richard Madeley is given access to a number of buildings in the city as part of a documentary for ITV1. He sees what squatters lives are really like and why they squat.

Squatters have taken over an empty million pound property in Bristol's upmarket Clifton district.
Nine men are living in the four-floor former private bank on Pembroke Road after being evicted from another property. They've posted notices telling neighbours they won't be a nuisance.
The group has been summoned to appear at the County Court next Thursday.
