Two lanes have been closed on the M5 southbound, between J23 for A39 Bridgwater North and J24 for A38 Bridgwater South, due to a broken down vehicle.
There are currently major traffic delays, also caused by an earlier accident near J25 for Taunton.
The A38 has also been blocked both ways at Haldon Hill, between B3344 for Harcombe Cross and the Chudleigh/Kingsteignton turn off, following another accident.
Traffic is stationary in both directions, affecting travel between Exeter and Plymouth.
