More than 70,000 passengers are expected through Bristol Airport this bank holiday weekend. An Airport spokesman says numbers are on the increase since it added new destinations including Bologna and Shannon.

Meanwhile the great Easter getaway will mean busy roads, especially on the region's motorways. The road and rail networks are likely to be extremely busy too so do make extra time for your journeys.


Delays after train derails in Bristol

An investigation is underway at a maintenance depot in Bristol after a minor derailment of a CrossCountry train.

No passengers were on board, however the incident has led to some disruption, with some services delayed or cancelled at short notice.

Normal service is expected to resume from 1400.


Train derailed between Cheltenham & Bath

There is disruption on CrossCountry trains between Cheltenham Spa and Bristol Parkway because of a derailed train.

Their services are being diverted via Gloucester station causing longer journey times, and there's no estimate for when the line may reopen.

This will also affect First Great Western services.
