Motorcyclist seriously injured in Devon crash

A man has been seriously injured after being involved in a road traffic collision in Bishopsteignton.

Police and ambulance were called to the incident on Newton Road at 9.30am following the collision between a motorcycle and a van.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics and has been airlifted to hospital.

The road is closed in both directions and is expected to remain closed for some time.

Police are asking drivers to find an alternative route.

Two lanes have been closed on the M5 southbound, between J23 for A39 Bridgwater North and J24 for A38 Bridgwater South, due to a broken down vehicle.

There are currently major traffic delays, also caused by an earlier accident near J25 for Taunton.

The A38 has also been blocked both ways at Haldon Hill, between B3344 for Harcombe Cross and the Chudleigh/Kingsteignton turn off, following another accident.

Traffic is stationary in both directions, affecting travel between Exeter and Plymouth.

Flight disruption in the region because of low visibility

Flights have been disrupted across the region due to low visibility and low clouds.

All Skybus flights have been cancelled because of the weather conditions.

Bristol Airport is also experiencing flight disruptions, with travellers advised to check with their individual airlines as to the status of flights.
