Officers continue M5 crash investigation

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision on the M5. Enquiries centre on the weather conditions at the time of the collision and how the bus came to be stationary in the carriageway. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the bus travelling along the M5 prior to the collision.

Family pay tribute to M5 crash victim

Our dad was tragically taken away from us while doing the job he so very much loved. We would very much like to thank the people who helped both us and dad through such a tragic time including all the emergency services that attended the scene to help dad on the motorway to try and save him.

M5 crash victim named

William Mapstone, aged 65 from Wells in Somerset Credit: West Midlands Police

The lorry driver killed in a crash on the M5 near Birmingham on Saturday has been named as 65-year-old William Mapstone from Wells in Somerset. Family tributes have been paid to Mr Mapstone and Liaquat Ali who also died in the crash, you can read them on the West Midlands Police website.


Ongoing investigations after M5 crash leaves lorry driver dead

Police investigators are trying to work out what caused a crash which left a Somerset lorry driver dead.The 65 year old was driving to Devon on the M5 when he hit a bus near Birmingham. Two people were killed and 20 injured. A man's been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
