Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash in Williton in West Somerset which killed an elderly woman and left a child in a critical condition.
The crash, which involved two cars, happened on Priest Street just after 8pm last night.
The 87-year-old woman, a passenger in one of the cars died at the scene. The child, who was in the other car was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Crisis talks have been held over the future of West Somerset Council. It's the smallest local authority in England and leaders believe it can no longer afford to stand alone.
Members have been discussing ways of ensuring its survival. Richard Lawrence has been at the meeting in Williton.
