Bath tennis player Samantha Murray takes to the court for the biggest match of her career at Wimbledon later today.

The 26 year old will face Maria Sharapova this afternoon. It'll be a tough match for the wildcard entrant who trains in Bath. The World Number Five is on a run of good form after winning the French Open.

Two tennis players based at the University of Bath are finishing their preparations for this year's Wimbledon tournament, which gets underway on Monday.

Samantha Murray has been handed a wildcard entry into the women's singles for the second year running and Bath academy team mate Anna Smith will contest the doubles.

25 year old Murray is ranked 240 in the world and has previously only played in the qualifying tournament at Wimbledon.

Monday sees the start of Wimbledon and two weeks of tennis fever will sweep the country. All eyes will be on Andy Murray, of course, but another Murray - Samantha Murray from Bath - has been given a wildcard to play in the grand slam for the first time.

Samantha finds out tomorrow who she'll face in the first round singles and doubles when the women's draw is made. From Wimbledon, our sports correspondent Matthias Kurth reports.
