Campaigners have presented their case against an asbestos landfill in Chew Valley.

They claim the distrIct produces only 1,200 tonnes of asbestos waste a year. The site at Stowey Quarry could have as much as 65,000 tonnes a year dumped in it.

A Planning Inspector in the recent Public Inquiry to determine the future of Stowey Quarry in North East Somerset has dismissed an appeal to dump asbestos at the site.
