Fatal crash on M5 near Tewkesbury

One man has been killed and two others have been seriously injured in a crash on the M5 near Tewkesbury. It happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 9 and 8 just after 9 pm last night. Two lorries, two vans and a car were involved.

A passenger in one of the vans, a 22 year old man from West Yorkshire, was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards. The 27 year old driver, also from West Yorkshire and one of the lorry drivers - a 46 year old man from Stoke on Trent - are being treated in hospital.

The motorway was closed until 6.30 am while a full investigation took place. Gloucestershire Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash. They are being asked to dial 101 and quote incident number 44 of May 1
