Compton aims for a thousand runs
Somerset cricketer Nick Compton is hoping to become the first cricketer for 24 years to score a thousand runs before the end of May.The 28-year-old goes into today's County Championship match at Worcestershire needing 59 runs by close of play tomorrow to reach his goal.
The feat has only been achieved by eight players: Donald Bradman (twice), Bill Edrich, WG Grace, Tom Hayward, Wally Hammond, Charlie Hallows, Glenn Turner and Graeme Hick, who was the last to reach the milestone in 1988.
