Coroner: Dylan Cecil died by drowning
A four-year-old boy who was visiting the seaside with his family drowned after slipping from a jetty, a coroner said today. Dylan Cecil was on holiday visiting his grandparents when he fell into the water at Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset on Sunday August 19.
More than 400 people joined the boy's parents at St Andrew's Church in Burnham-on-Sea to remember Dylan during a memorial service on Sunday, while a minute's silence was also held for people to pay their respects near to where Dylan was last seen alive.
Coroner Michael Rose today said a post-mortem examination showed Dylan drowned.
No members of Dylan's family were present at the short hearing when his inquest was opened in Taunton.
It was adjourned until a date yet to be set.
