The family of a boy hit by lightning thank those who helped him

The family of 11 year old Joe Compton, the Swindon schoolboy who was hit by lightning, have thanked the people at Dorcan Academy and leisure complex who reacted so quickly.

They told our Wiltshire reporter Robert Murphy:

"We would like to express our gratitude to the PE staff & leisure centre staff who came to Joe’s aid. We owe a huge amount of thanks to them."

Joe remains in a stable condition in Frenchay Hospital in South Gloucestershire.
