Gloucester outscored their hosts by two tries to one at Vicarage Road but a losing bonus point was all they had to show for a spirited performance. Dan Murphy went over in the first half and they touched down again after the break when Akapusi Qera breached the Saracens line.
23 points from the boot of Charlie Hodgson and a try from Richard Wigglesworth edged Saracens in front but Gloucester had a chance to win it at the death, only to concede a stoppage time penalty with the try line beckoning.
