Britain's first baby of 2013 came into the world in Swindon, at one minute past midnight.Eve Johnson and partner Darren Eden from Stratton in Swindon were expecting their baby girl - who has not yet been named - on January 11.
But Eve went into labour on New Year's Eve and the healthy baby was born at 12.01am at the Great Western Hospital, weighing 6lb 15oz.
Mum-of-three Eve, from Stratton, who works as a biomedical support worker in pathology at the hospital said it was a shock to have Britain's first baby of 2013.
Dad Darren, a cable joiner, said he could hear fireworks going off during the delivery.
