Asylum campaigners win council backing

Campaigning fighting for the rights of asylum-seekers have won the support of Bristol City Council.

Tonight councillors agreed to lobby the Government to change the laws regarding failed asylum-seekers so that they can get access to housing and benefits.

They want other councils to follow suit.

People have been sleeping out in Bristol to raise awareness of the living conditions of asylum-seekers in the city. It is part of a campaign for justice for the group, many of whom are destitute as they do not have the right to work
