Nicholas Lovell, aged 38, from Oldland Common, South Gloucestershire has appeared in court this morning and charged with two counts of death by dangerous driving on Sunday in Hanham.
He was also charged with driving whilst disqualified, without insurance and failure to stop after an accident. No application for bail was made. Lovell has been remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 21 February by videolink.
A vigil to remember a couple who were knocked off their tandem near Bristol was held today, a week after their deaths.
Police said a car struck and killed the cyclists - a man and a woman - before the driver fled the scene of the crash in Bristol.
