Appeal after street robbery in Swindon

Police in Swindon are appealing for witnesses following an incident where four friends were robbed on Sunday night.

The three males and a female were approached by three males to the side of Manor Garden Centre in Akers Way.

One of the men was brandishing a butchers style meat cleaver.

The victims were forced to hand over two mobile phones, a small amount of cash and a pouch of tobacco. A black mountain bike was also stolen.

The suspects are all described as being white males aged between 17-19 years old who were wearing hooded tops and bandanas.

This incident took place in a wooded area which is referred to locally as ‘the forest’.

It was particularly frightening for those involved who were confronted by three males in hooded tops one of whom was brandishing what has been described as a meat cleaver.

I understand that there were a large group of people in the area of Moredon golf club prior to this incident taking place and I am keen to speak with anyone who may have seen or heard anything around this time.

– Detective Constable Mark Harris, Wiltshire Police

Wiltshire Police is appealing to any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident to contact them immediately.

An 18-year-old male has been arrested in connection with this incident and has been released on bail pending further enquires.
