West Country badger cull

A cull of around 5,000 badgers can now legally get underway in Somerset and Gloucestershire as the Government tries to stop the spread of Bovine TB in cattle. If it is a success, it is expected to be rolled out in other parts of the country.

MPs debate on Badger Cull today

MPs from across the region joined in the Badger cull debate in Parliament today.

Labour claims that shooting badgers to control TB in cattle is ineffective and have put down a motion calling for it to be stopped.

The cull became legal in parts of Somerset and Gloucestershire at the weekend.
