Somerset Cricketer Arul Suppiah has retired from the game with immediate effect, Somerset County Cricket announced on Thursday.

The Twenty20 bowling world record holder has been suffering from serious injuries in both knees that have led to a rapid deterioration in their condition in recent months.

The 29 year old Malaysian arrived at Millfield School on a cricket scholarship at the age of 13 and has played for Somerset ever since.
