Crime figures

New figures released today show crime is down in Gloucestershire for the ninth year in a row.

The details released by the Home Office show crime fell by 12.7% between April 1 2012 and March 31 2012 - that’s 4393 fewer offences.

Crime in Avon & Somerset is down by 14%

Avon & Somerset have seen one of the biggest reductions in crime in the whole country.

Crime in the South West fell by 11 percent, while the Avon and Somerset Force area saw a fall of 14 percent.

The national average in England and Wales was a fall of seven percent - the lowest it's been since 1981.

Home Office Minister and Taunton Deane MP Jeremy Browne says he's pleased to see the figures.

The bigggest fall was in robberies which were down by 26% and violent crimes against the person also showed a significant reduction of 12%
