The residents of eighty homes had to be moved out to safety as explosives experts was drafted in to blow up what's described as a suspicious item at a house.
Part of Warmley near Bristol was cordoned off. People were told to gather at a nearby supermarket cafe or relocate to the homes of family or friends.
A man's been arrested in Somerset in connection with the incident.
