A woman has died after being swept out to sea in a rip current near Bude in Cornwall.
The mother, thought to in her 50s, and her two sons aged 11 and 13, got caught in the current off Northcott Mouth yesterday afternoon.
One of the children swam to shore, while the RNLI inshore lifeboat rescued the other. The woman was rescued by two men with the help of the coastguard.
She was airlifted to North Devon District Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The children were unharmed.
