Supersonic tested in Newquay

Newquay has played host to the testing of the Bloodhound - a supercar aiming to set the world land speed record.

The Bloodhound Project tested its hybrid rocket at the Aerohub, Newquay Cornwall Airport.

The event represents the most significant milestone yet in the development of the 1,000mph supersonic car, which hopes to smash the current land speed record title. Bloodhound's engineers tested the rocket system for the first time, comprising of the Cosworth CA2010 F1 engine, High Test Peroxide tank, custom designed gear box, software and unique Falcon Hybrid Rocket.
