Torquay United staged a stunning comeback last night to beat Aldershot 4-3 at Plainmoor. Craig Reed scored a hat-trick for the visitors to put them 3-0 up. Then goals from Billy Bodin, Ran Jarvis and Ashley Yeoman pulled the Gulls level. And the drama wasn't over - with Rene Howe scoring an 89th minute winner.
Manager Martin Ling described it as 'the greatest comeback of my career'.
– Martin Ling, Torquay United Manager
“It is the first time that has ever happened in my managerial career. To be 3-0 down and win 4-3 is very pleasing, and shows great character from the dressing room. We’ve not had a lot of wins this year and they came up with some big answers.
“Defensively, you can always pick holes in a 4-3 win but everyone went home happy last night and the character in Torquay’s dressing room is pretty special.”
