They're stars of television and music - and now they're the Brit award winning Military Wives.

Members of the Devon based group have been celebrating their latest accolade - a Classic Brit award for Single of the Year.

'Wherever You Are', their Christmas chart-topper, beat Nessun Dorma and other classic tracks to win the prize, voted for by the public.

Their Christmas Number one hit single was based on letters to and from their loved ones overseas. It won the award in a cermeony to be shown on ITV1 this Sunday night.

When choirmaster Gareth Malone arrived at Chivenor to make a television programme no one could have foreseen how successful these ladies would become. Demands for them to perform keep coming in and they've provided inspiration for sixty other military wives choirs to be established.

One of the wives told us:

"It just feels like validation, it feels surreal, it's an amazing feeling. And I think for us, well for me personally it was being back at the Albert Hall because that's where it all started for us, it felt like the icing on the cake to be back there again and winning a Brit Award so for me it was absolutely amazing."
