Council leader faces vote of no confidence
The Leader of Cornwall Council faces a vote of no confidence this morning over controversial proposals to part-privatise some council services.
42 councillors have signed a petition seeking to remove Councillor Alec Robertson from office.
Cornwall Council is looking into a joint venture with one of two private firms which would be contracted to run services such as libraries, one stop shops and benefits and payroll.
Councillors voted against the plans at a full council meeting but the council's cabinet has continued to pursue the idea.
That's led to some seeking a vote of no confidence in their leader.
The vote will be taken at an extraordinary council meeting today (Tuesday), and if Councillor Robertson is voted out, a new leader will be appointed immediately.
