Hundreds of homes without power

Over 800 homes without power in Gloucestershire Photo: Western power

Hundreds of homes are without power as Storm Imogen brings rain and strong winds.

Western Power has been working all day to try and restore power to those affected.

Some schools and National Trust properties have closed because of the adverse weather.

Some of our customers are currently experiencing power supply problems following high wind which has damaged some of our overhead power equipment.

Forward planning, following advanced Met Office weather predictions, means that our operational depots have been open from first light and we also have in place additional operational and engineering staff, and extra Contact Centre staff available to take customer calls.

Where weather has permitted, our Helicopter Unit has also been on hand to further pinpoint damage caused to our overhead network and to help speed up repairs and power restoration times.
