A family from Plymouth has been amazed at the kindness of strangers after an unexpected death on Sunday 2 October.
34-year-old Kelly Marie Jenkins had Down's Syndrome and died of heart failure after developing a chest infection. Kelly's passing has come as a huge shock to her family, who thought she was getting better.
Alongside the shock of her sister passing, Tracy Passingham also had cope with having to find the money to pay for Kelly's funeral. Because of Kelly's Down's Syndrome and the associated health problems she had, she was unable to get life insurance.
But it's thanks to the kindness of strangers that the family are seeing a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Fundraisers like table top sales and raffles are being organised and a GoFundMe appeal has already raised nearly £1,500 towards the cost of the funeral.
Funeral directors say they are seeing more and more people unprepared to deal with all that death throws at you, but Plymouth and District Funeral Services have pledged to give Kelly the best send-off possible,
A florist has donated a yellow heart to be displayed at Kelly's funeral, It was her favourite colour and guests will wear yellow ribbons in her honor. Her family say they are overwhelmed by the kindness that surrounds them from people they've never met at this terribly sad time.
