Two schoolgirls injured in collision in Dartmouth

Police in Devon say two young schoolgirls have been injured in a 'serious' collision with a car near Dartmouth.

The pair - believed to be 15-years-old - are thought to have been crossing the A3122 Townstal Road in when they were reportedly hit by a Ford Fiesta.

The incident took place at 3.30pm today (Monday) and the Devon Air Ambulance was sent to the scene.

Ambulance crews say one of the girls has suffered a head injury and one a suspected leg fracture.

Kingsbridge Police posted a message on Facebook which said:

Emergency services are currently on scene at an RTC in Dartmouth by the petrol station where two schoolgirls have been hit by a car.

The air ambulance is en-route so the road has been closed to all traffic.

Please seek an alternative route and bear with us during this incident. We will open the road as soon as possible."

Police have closed the road and are diverting traffic away from the area.
