90 year old killed in Barnstaple crash

A 91 year old woman who died as a result of a crash in Barnstaple has been named as Mrs Margaret Pine, who lived locally.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the serious collision on Saturday 17 December.

The car had been in collision with a brick wall at the end of Old Bideford Road in thick fog.

Three elderly women in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were all taken to North Devon District Hospital.

Mrs Pine, from Barnstaple, was a passenger in the vehicle and sustained multiple injuries. She died in hospital three days later.

The other two women, aged 76 and 85 remain in hospital.

We are looking for man who arrived at the collision scene shortly after it had occurred. He kindly assisted to the occupants of the car involved and we would ask him to get in touch as soon as possible.
