'Snow showers' forecast for the West

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of severe weather with snow set to hit Cornwall, Devon and Somerset on Thursday (12 January).

An Arctic Blast of cold air is likely to hit the UK on Friday bringing snow to many parts of the UK.

Friday is said to be the coldest day of Winter so far.

The warning said wind gusts of up to 55mph were expected in exposed coastal areas with up to 5cm (2in) of snow possible and up to 20cm (8in) on higher ground.

A second warning, valid from 12:00 on Thursday to 12:00 on Friday, could see accumulations of snow.

The Met Office is warning of potential disruption to transport networks.
