For those who don't fancy sporting some facial fuzz, or might struggle to grow some, there are also 'hand-made' categories where people can try their attempts and faking a beard or moustache!

Organiser Brendan Johnson says the event is all about the taking part:

"Judging is incredibly subjective, and there isn't a breed standard, we aren't quite crufts!

So it is literally the best beards on the day and quite often we get someone who has turned up for their first competition with an amazing beard and they walk away with a top prize"

– Brendan Johnson, Organiser

The event is also hoping to raise thousands for the Devon and Cornwall Air Ambulance charities, with entry fees and proceeds going towards the two trusts.
