An all-weather lifeboat crew was called to help a man who had slipped and fallen off a cliff along Goodrington in Devon earlier this week.
The unnamed man injured his head and spine after falling from the Armchair Rock area onto rocky ground. A woman who had been exploring with him also got minor injuries and was treated by paramedics.
The RNLI Torbay used specialised equipment to "extract" the man around 1.30pm, Wednesday 16 August.
South Western Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and the Devon Air Ambulance all attended the scene.
After being stabilised, the man was taken to Broadsands Beach by the inshore lifeboat crew and then transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by helicopter, for further treatment.
