As well as the high intake there are other college records being broken this week.

Four male students are beginning studies which is the highest number to enrol in the same year.

2017 also sees the first set of identical twins to study at Norland, with 18-year-olds Lauren and Abby Barnes from Hampshire enrolling.

Dr Janet Rose, Principal of Norland College says it's a "truly historic" year.

Not only is it 125 years since our founder, Emily Ward, welcomed the first set of Norland students, but we have also moved to a brand new building in Bath as we welcome our largest ever intake of students.

20%
of this year's intake have come from employment or gap years according to Norland

The college says bursaries for students who need financial support have more than doubled since 2014.

Dr Rose says Norland predicts 10% of students will be supported through bursaries by 2018.

Over £400k will have been granted to Norland students via bursaries between 2014-2018.

This is all part of our 'widening participation' recruitment campaign to ensure we attract the very best students to the college, whatever their background.

Norland College says students have guaranteed employment opportunities after graduation and can expect to earn around £26,000 as a starting salary.
