14-year-old boy stabbed in Truro

A fourteen year old boy is in hospital after being stabbed in the back by a masked attacker in Truro.

Police say the attack happened just after 7.30pm yesterday outside a community hall on the Trelander housing estate.

The teenager, who is from Penzance, has a deep but not life threatening puncture wound.

Police say they have arrested a 16 year old from Truro who remains in custody.

The boy, from Penzance, was talking with a friend outside Trelander and St Clement Community Hall when he was subjected to an unprovoked attack by a male who was wearing a mask.

He received a puncture wound to his back. His injury is described as serious but not life-threatening.

The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Treliske Hospital where he remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Local units, firearms officers and a dog unit attended the scene.

Police enquiries led to an address in Truro where a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

The boy, from Truro, remains in custody in Camborne.
