Wiltshire Air Ambulance says it will still be able to reach patients anywhere in the county within 11 minutes - even though it is moving from a central airbase.
For 27 years the aircraft has been based in Devizes, but it is halfway through a £5million move to Semington near Melksham.
Half of that money was paid for by a generous millionaire who wants to remain anonymous.
Building work for Wiltshire Air Ambulance's new base is nearly done.
The Air Ambulance has been based at the police headquarters in Devizes for 27 years.
It is now moving away from the very heart of the county to West Wiltshire.
But staff say they will still be able to respond to any part of the county within 11 minutes.
The service has flown nearly 700 missions this year already.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance will move into its new home next summer.
