Thousands of cyclists have crossed muddy terrain and scaled steep hills as part of the annual Tour de Moor bike challenge.

The Dartmoor event took place this weekend in aid of St Luke’s.

The Tour attracted more than 1,000 cyclists who raced up to 52km to raise awareness and money for the charity that provides care for people dealing with life-limiting illnesses.

£80,000
was raised for St Luke's by the event

The charity says it was an eye-opening experience for many competitors.

With almost half of our care taking place at home, the bikers will have travelled through some of the most remote Dartmoor villages and experienced the challenges our nurses face every day to provide this care at home, day or night and in every type of weather imaginable.
