Strong winds cause disruption across the West Country

A yellow warning for strong winds is in place with gusts of 50 to 60 mph expected. Rail services and some flights are affected

  • CROSSCOUNTRY - DEVON

Service suspended on CrossCountry between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth, and between Exeter St Davids and Paignton due to adverse weather conditions.

Tickets are being accepted on Great Western Railway services.

A combination of a high tide and strong winds are making it unsafe to travel along the sea wall at Dawlish.

  • SKYBUS - NEWQUAY AIRPORT

Skybus flights between Newquay Airport and St Mary's Airport on the Isles of Scilly are currently on hold due to strong winds.

Delays of up to 90 minutes to Skybus flights between Land's End Airport and St Mary's Airport due to earlier strong winds

  • M48 SEVERN BRIDGE - SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Speed restriction of 40 mph due to strong winds and restrictions on M48 Severn Bridge in both directions between J1 A403 / B4461 (Aust) and J2 A466 (Chepstow).

All traffic is coming off the motorway, around the roundabouts and then back onto the carriageway.

Regular restrictions in case the bridge needs to be closed quickly because of strong crosswinds. The bridge itself is still open.
