Police have seized a large quantity of drugs and made two arrests after plain clothed officers came across a suspicious vehicle.

The two officers were patrolling the St Werburgh’s area of Bristol on Tuesday 16 January when they came across a car parked on Conduit Place which smelt strongly of cannabis.

When they approached the vehicle the driver admitted to having a small amount of the Class B drug and was arrested for possession.

A search of the car was then carried out under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act resulting in the discovery of what is believed to be cannabis and cocaine.

The man, aged 27, was further arrested on suspicion of being in possession with intent to supply and a search was subsequently carried out at his home address.

A large amount of suspected Class A and Class B drugs, along with drug paraphernalia and mobile phones were recovered from the house.

A 53-year-old woman who lived at the address was also arrested for possession with intent to supply. Both have since been released under investigation while police make further enquiries.

We're committed to taking illegal drugs off our streets and will always take robust action against anyone we suspect involved in supplying them.

We’ll keep acting on our suspicions, and we need the public to do the same. If you think someone is dealing in your community, please report it.
