Well-loved clothes shop to shut after decades of serving customers with a smile

This traditional outfitters shop on a Devon high street has been fitting customers with belts, bras and braces for five decades.

However, the owners of Pete's and Miss Pete's in Kingsbridge are calling it a day after 53 years in business.

Celia and Jerry Peters have been running the clothes shop since the 1960's but have decided to hang up their tape measures and retire.

Celia says it is the customers they will miss the most, as they have become friends and even the visitors that come once a year, they remember.

"We can't always remember their names but we remember their waist size! And what sort of trousers they like or what sort of pants they like!"

It's that kind of friendly customer service that seems to have kept people coming back, and perhaps the fact that the shop still does things the old fashioned way.

It's not known what exact day they'll close or who'll buy the building - but it's clear Kingsbridge is really going to miss Jerry and Celia.
