Somerset seagull avoids sticky end

Feasting on jam can be a risky business! Photo: Secret World Wildlife Rescue

Last week a gull avoided a sticky end after finding a discarded jam container at Isleport Business Park in Highbridge, Somerset.

A concerned member of the public thought the bird was covered in blood and called animal welfare charity.

The gull was taken to Secret World Wildlife Rescue in East Huntslip, Somerset only for staff to realise the bird was actually just covered in strawberry jam.

He was given a thorough wash and an apt new nickname - 'Jammy'!
