A woman in exeter got a rather nasty fright when she was digging out the BBQ during this week's sunny weather.

She discovered a slow worm wedged into the end of the scraper in a garden shed while she was house sitting for some friends.

The RSPCA transported her still stuck to West Hatch Animal Centre where she was freed using a saw. They plan to release her over the next few days.

“This slow worm really was stuck fast!

“I’m glad she was able to be freed and hopefully she can now be released back into the wild where she belongs. Think she’ll be staying away from barbeques for a while though!”
