Plymouth Studio School will be closing at the end of the summer term, only three years after opening.
This decision comes after an Ofsted report which criticised the school and labelled it 'inadequate'.
One mother has expressed her concern at her son's struggle to find a new place.
15-year-old Sam started at Plymouth Studio School last September after being excluded from his previous school.
At the time, he hadn't been formally diagnosed with additional needs - but with the help of the Studio School he now has been.
Sam's mum fears that the support system she's built up around him is in danger of toppling.
Just three years after it opened, after dwindling pupil numbers and then a damning OFSTED report that found that academically, the children were being failed, a proposal was made to close Plymouth Studio School.
Plymouth City Council says every child who was a student at Plymouth Studio School has a place in a new school in September.
It says it has offered help and support to every parent who has asked for it.
