Hazardous chemicals wash up on Cornish beach

A container of hazardous chemicals has washed up on the shore of Perranporth.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue, the RNLI and the Coastguard were called to Perran Sands Beach on Sunday (22nd July) afternoon.

Firefighters donned in specialist protective clothing with breathing apparatus carefully secured the unknown container and removed it for testing.

If you discover something on the beach that looks dangerous or hazardous, keep your distance, note your location, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
