M5 Crash Victim Named

The driver of the bus that was involved in Saturday's M5 crash remains on bail, after being arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the crash, West Midlands Police have confirmed.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision on the M5. Enquiries centre on the weather conditions at the time of the collision and how the bus came to be stationary in the carriageway. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw the bus travelling along the M5 prior to the collision.

The lorry driver killed in a crash on the M5 near Birmingham on Saturday has been named as 65-year-old William Mapstone from Wells in Somerset. Family tributes have been paid to Mr Mapstone and Liaquat Ali who also died in the crash, you can read them on the West Midlands Police website.

A lorry driver from the West Country who was seriously injured in a crash on the M5 near Birmingham has died in hospital, West Midlands Police said. Another man was killed and more than 20 people injured in the accident. The lorry was returning to Devon from Manchester when the accident happened.
