Fears are growing for 3 fishermen missing off the coast of Dorset. The Purbeck Isle left Weymouth yesterday but didn't return as planned. A major search ten miles south of Portland resumed at 5am this morning.
It's been confirmed that some wreckage has been found on the seabed.
David Pitman from the Licensed Boatman and Fishermen Association says people are still holding out ahope a life raft will be found:
Fears are growing for three fishermen missing off the coast of Dorset.
Their boat, the Purbeck Isle, left Weymouth yesterday but didn't return as planned. A major search ten miles south of Portland continues.
RNLI lifeboats, coastguard helicopters and a Royal Navy warship helped search last night. The search was called-off at 3am but resumed at 5am [Friday].
The fishing boat had gone to check and re-lay crab pots.
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman said the missing boat has not been seen since leaving the port this morning. Portland Coastguard, said: "The coastguard helicopter commenced a search from the air of known fishing grounds of this vessel as soon as we were alerted. More on this story here
