Man jailed for life after killing his mother

A 31-year-old man from Exmouth has been convicted of the murder of his mother.

Andrew Cane will serve a minimum of 15 years in prison.

The body of 63-year-old Linda Sheard was found at her house in Port Mer Close, Exmouth last July.

I would like to thank Linda Sheard’s family for the assistance they have given the police in the difficult circumstances that they found themselves in.

This being that Andrew Cane, the offender for this murder was the victim’s son.

We are very satisfied with the guilty verdict and the sentence of life imprisonment with a minimum of fifteen years given out to Cane by his Honourable Judge Francis Gilbert, in what was an unprovoked violent assault on his mother which resulted in her death.

Andrew Canes actions have left a family grieving for the loss of a loving mother, daughter, auntie and grandmother, and three children without a father for at least fifteen years.
