Shelley Smith survives sing-off

Shelley Smith from Farringdon in Devon was the first to fall victim to X Factor's Flash Vote.

She was the performer getting the fewest votes in a 10 minute window after Saturday night's live performances, which immediately condemned her to taking part in the sing-offs.

Shelley told Dermot O'Leary: "I'm just going to sing my little heart out. I'm just going to try best, that's all I can do. I've got so much more to give."

And that proved to be the case. Shelley's performance in Sunday night's sing-off was enough for the judges to save her - rather than Lorna Simpson, who polled the fewest votes on Sunday.

Here Shelley is, singing Jennifer Hudson's 'One Night Only', to survive to sing again.

X Factor's Luke before he was famous

Luke Friend, the 17 year old from Teignmouth in Devon, is through to the live finals of X-Factor. This weekend he'll face a live audience as he sings for survival on the talent show.

But Luke is no stranger to the stage, as this video shows. It was given to ITV News by Luke's proud Mum Sue. It shows his taking part in an an X Factor style conest at his school when he was just 11 years old.
