Local authorities across the West Country are hoping to encourage more people to take on children waiting to find a family.
On average 40 children a year are placed with adoptive parents in Cornwall alone.
As part of National Adoption Week, the Westcountry Tonight has been to meet families whose lives have been transformed thanks to adoption.

Adoption services say, these days, people do not have to be a certain age, status or 'type' to become a parent to an adopted child.

It's National Adoption Week and local authorities across the region are hoping to attract more people to offer a home to youngsters needing a new family.
There are currently 21 children between four months and ten years old waiting to be adopted in Cornwall alone.
